Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Today is Dean's 41st birthday !! I have to say that Hannah was far more excited than he was this morning, but he's had a nice day doing exactly what he wanted to do, which was this.......................................................................... .........................laying on the sofa watching sports!!

Painting on Canvas

Yesterday Hannah had her first try at painting on canvas, she used a Little Explorers kit which was a birthday gift, and she really enjoyed it.

Most of her pictures at the moment are of gardens and flowers - she is rather desperate for our garden to be finished!!

Home Education Field Trip- Marwell Zoo

Our trip to Marwell began with a workshop for Hannah where she learned all about animals appearances - she discovered how some animals have markings to camoflage themselves, while others have bright markings as a warning , she found out about their natural environments, and was able to see a stick insect and a snake close up and even touch them.

After the workshop we were free to explore the zoo for the rest of the day. We certainly made the most of it as we were there for 7 hours!!

Hannah and her friends spent the day together viewing the animals and reading all about them, riding on the road train which took us around the park and, of course, playing.............they did lots of playing!!

A Real Rainbow - Promise Day

Hannah is so excited because this evening she made her Rainbows Promise and became a full Rainbow.

I'm so proud of her, only a few weeks ago she was nervous and shy before each meeting, and now she runs in excitedly and doesn't look back - it's the highlight of her week and has really given her confidence in herself.

Winchester Hat Fair

Today we met up with some other homeschoolers at the Winchester Hat Fair. It was the first time we had been and was a really good day! The Hat Fair is a wonderful, colourful celebration of theatre and music, where entertainers from all over the world perform voluntarily in exchange for money to be thrown into their hats.

The day started with a parade through the town centre - we joined in with the homeschoolers to promote Home Education in Hampshire,

Then after a picnic lunch the performances started. This guy wrapped his head in rubber bands, and then escaped from a straight jacket while riding a unicycle!!

We (obviously) had a shopping and coffee break - Winchester has some amazing shops!

Watched this performer escape from a rope made from underwear while balancing a flaming torch on his face!! He also juggled flaming torches and worked a diablo!

Before we came home Hannah joined some of the other children trying out various circus skills in the workshop area, her favourite thing was the hula hoop which she got the hang of really quickly and was dancing around trying to do tricks with it

Another great home schooling day :-)

Forestside Group

On wednesday we went to a brilliant new (to us) home ed session at Forestside. The theme was deserts and the children learned all about the desert environment and wildlife and completed a quiz about them, made a craft cactus, wrote an acrostic poem, did aboriginal paintings and played games.
Hannah really enjoyed the session and came home full of knowledge about deserts and very pleased with her flowering cactus.

Park Play

Hannah started her week with some fun in the park with daddy as he is on holiday for two weeks.
They played frisbee, hugged trees,

climbed,

and hung upside down..............................well actually only Hannah did that bit!!
