Fairy Looms, Music and Movement

Today at our home ed group the children made fairy looms! All you need to make a fairy loom is a forked branch, some wool and some bits to decorate with! First weave the wool across the fork to make a framework, and then decorate with anything you like - Hannah chose some fabric flowers, leaves and twinkly beads, but some of the others chose fallen leaves, acorns, fircones and feathers. They all looked beautiful!

Next there was free play in the adventure playground, followed by a children's meeting. We wanted the children to come up with a list of fun activities they would like to do together, and what a list we had!!

Finally, we finished with music and movement led by a volunteer mum. Hannah had a brilliant time being a frog, a mermaid and learning a new dance routine.

Next week we are preparing for Halloween :-)

Making Dream Catchers At Forest School

It was Hannah's fourth Forest School today and the session began wih some parachute games. Hannah loves the parachute so she was very happy with that! Then the children were shown how to use willow to make dream catchers and were told the story behind the dream catcher.

After that Hannah asked her auntie (my sister, who drove us again this week) if she would help her to make her dream catcher.

And here it is, the finished dream catcher!

Finally the children were given the opportunity to make some bug homes using the willow..........by this time Hannah and her friends had run off into the woods to play, so Auntie Anita and i made one instead - we did a pretty good job too lol!!

Hannah and i did bring a bundle of willow home with us though, so i'm sure Hannah will make her own bug home really soon!

Crystal Energies at Home Ed Group

One of the parents at home ed group is a crystal healer, and today she told the children all about crystal energy and healing.
The children found out which crystals were used for different ailments. Hannah helped to demonstrate the chakra's and relating crystals.

Then the children tried it out by placing crystals on to a brave mum who volunteered as the patient.

They loved it!And were very pleased with the results.

Hannah was very interested in the crystals and their powers, and has asked if we can learn some more about them at home - i'm really looking forward to it :-)

Rainbows

Yesterday was a really nice day, so after all the rain we've had we decided to go to Rainbows a little early and play in the playground first!

Then it was on to the meeting, where Hannah and the other Rainbows learnt about safety.

Hannah is really loving going to Rainbows and her confidence has definitely improved since she started. She is even going to the Rainbows party next week!!

October 1st

Well October has arrived in a very wet and windy way today! So the first thing Hannah and i did today was to make some lovely homemade vegetable soup and some bread. Our bread machine is broken so we had to make the bread by hand which was a lot of fun and made the kitchen smell lovely! After lunch Hannah really wanted to go out and splash in puddles so we waterproofed up and walked to the cemetary. It's actually a lovely place for a walk!

It rained so hard that most of my pictures are water blurred, but Hannah had a wonderful time!

She collected conkers, lots of lovely coloured fallen leaves and some seeds for the season table while she played, and loved opening the horse chestnut shells to find the treasures inside.

After kicking this puddle all over me in her enthusiasm she said ' i know i'm getting you all wet but it's really lots of fun' - she was right, it really was lots of fun!!

Eventually, when i had no dry patches left anywhere, we walked home past the crystal shop where Hannah spent her pocket money on some little treasures to take home.

It's been a lovely start to October :-)

Forest School Week 3

This week was all about fire! The children collected fire wood, learned to build a fire safely, practised lighting it and then cooked yummy bread treats over it!

An Afternoon With Auntie Anita

On Sunday my sister picked Hannah up after church and took her out for the afternoon. This was quite a big thing for us as Hannah had never been out on a trip without either Dean or me and had never been in a car without us either!



Auntie Anita took some lovely pictures for us and Hannah had a wonderful time! They went to Staunton Farm to visit the animals and then had a walk around the beautiful walled gardens before going back to my sisters house where Hannah fed the birds and played with the rabbits and didn't want to leave!!! They were out for six hours!!
