A Birthday Visit To Hillier Gardens - Romsey

It was my birthday on Monday, and Dean had a days holiday from work so we went to Hillier Gardens for the day. We had never been before but will definitely be going back - it was beautiful! Hannah loved it there as well, especially all the sculptures and the childrens educational garden - there was so much to see.

Happy 47th Birthday to me!

Happy Days

This week all the schools went back to school, and we went to Barnham  to meet up with friends and ride bikes. Six families had the park to ourselves, it was so peaceful - the children all had fun, fresh air and exercise while we enjoyed the sunshine.

Hannah also started this school years work this week. Multiplication was first on the list.

We are also using these books which I love!

And today she has had some new friends over for American Girl play. Three lovely girls all around Hannah's age and their mother came for the afternoon - we had a really fun, relaxed time.

Hannah's week also included a visit to Grammy's house, skyping with friends, playing minecraft and Always Ice Cream and she even managed a swim in the (pretty cold now) pool !!

Not Back To School 2014

Yesterday was the start of our new school year and the start of our seventh official (in terms of the UK school system) year of home schooling. Having said that, we have always chosen to follow a US system in our homeschooling so this year Hannah is working on Grade 5.

Hannah has a work basket with daily math and language arts lessons to complete, and then various lapbook and project work to fill in the gaps. It is very relaxed, lots of days out, trips and social groups thrown into the week - plus riding. Riding is the one thing she really wants to do so we are researching riding schools and pony clubs to find the perfect fit for her.

To mark the new term we went to the Portsmouth Home Education Group Not Back To School Picnic yesterday. Lots of families out enjoying the sunshine, and happy children playing, exploring and chatting with friends in the grounds of Portchester Castle.
