The Workshop at The D-Day Museum

The children learning about the warning siren
Some of the clothes they dressed up in during  a Firefighting role play.
The Gas Mask display.
The replica suitcases the Evacuee's were issued with and some items they would have taken with them to the country.
Ration Food
One of Hannah's friends dressed in the Evacuee's clothing from the suitcase.
Hannah trying on the Balaclava................................
...................And the mittens.
The Gas mask worn by a Air Raid Warden.

Hannah's group were given a suitcase and asked to discover who owned it, how long they were going away for, what two things they must always carry, and how they would have felt. Hannah decided it belonged to an evacuee who would be away from home until the end of the war, would have to carry their ID card and Gas Mask with them and would have felt sad and afraid. She was really engrossed in the whole workshop and spent a long time afterwards talking about Blackouts, Anderson Shelters and Air Raids - she learnt a lot today :-)
