Victorian Farming Diorama

In history group this week we looked at Victorian farming and discussed how farming changed during the Victorian era. We talked about the kind of jobs children would have done on the farm, and how different a Victorian farm would have looked compared to a modern day farm.

Then the children all made shoe box dioramas of a Victorian farm scene.

Hannah drew a shepherds hut with sheep, made a clay plough for her horse to pull and made tiny hay ricks for her field.

She loved making the diorama, so I think this is something we will be doing a lot more of!

Lovely work Hannah! Susie, did you know there was a BBC series called the Victorian Farm? It was the same team that did the wartime farm, we borrowed the DVD from the library, maybe you could get hold of a copy?
