Biking With Friends

On Wednesday we caught the train along the coast to Barnham to go biking with new friends. We met a couple of families that we already knew, and a few more that hadn't met before, and had the best day! The children biked around the huge park, played in the playground, picnic'd and chatted and Hannah made some lovely new friends. Everyone was so nice and friendly and it was a really comfortable day. We stayed for over 5 hours! Hannah was exhausted but so happy on the way home and hasn't stopped chattering about her new friends ever since.

A New Bike

Hannah loves to cycle but outgrew her old bike over a year ago. We've been meaning to get her a new one ever since then, but when a bike riding, home school, play date was advertised on our local board we knew we really had to get her another. I found a nice second hand bike locally on Ebay and picked it up on Sunday. Hannah was a little worried she would have forgotten how to ride, but apparently the old saying about never forgetting how to ride a bike is true, and she took off like her last bike ride was only yesterday!!!

We went out to the rugby club fields so she could have a good long ride, had a quick play break in the wooded area and came home along the roads where we live.

A Ramble Around Catherington Lith

Yesterday was Dean's day off, so we packed a backpack and went off for a spring ramble through the woods and fields of Catherington. It was beautiful, the hawthorn and bluebells were all out, there were swathes of frothy cow parsley along the footpaths and red campion, speedwell, buttercups and daisies everywhere.

Tuesday Adventure Group

This Tuesday we went to Adventure Group for some fun in the warm spring sun. The group was very, very quiet, but Hannah had a lovely time playing on the equipment there.

After group we walked into the big park in the middle of town. Hannah had such a lot of fun, she climbed trees, played in the daisies and went spring flower spotting.

She collected fallen cherry blossom,

found beautiful patches of buttercups and daisies,

bluebells in blue, white and mauve,

and this wonderful French lavender.

Bank Holiday At Home

Dean had the weekend off this week and as it was a bank holiday and super busy everywhere we decided to have some family fun at home.

We put the little tent up in the garden, lit the barbecue and had a lovely relaxing time. Hannah decided to be an intrepid garden explorer and spent the afternoon bug hunting and nature spotting with her enormous magnifying glass, and then snuggled into a sleeping bag in the tent when it got chilly.
