Monday - A New project (Australia), Playground Fun and a Walk.

Yesterday Hannah started a new project. She chose Australia. We found some 'All About Australia' question sheets online and printed them out to start with. Hannah then researched the information on the internet and in our book of the world to answer the questions. She looked at the location, geography and history of Australia and coloured a map flag as her header page.  She also found out a little about the Great Barrier Reef which she found fascinating, and intends to add more to her project over the coming week.

Hannah has decided to make notes of ideas to help conserve the Great Barrier Reef, this is her first one!

In the afternoon we went outside. It was a nice spring day so we headed to the playground we had found in the snow back in February.

After Hannah had finished playing we carried on away from the playground and out towards the fields for a walk. We are still discovering our local area so it was all new and interesting.

We walked over the railway bridge,

past some fields and along footpaths,

through a little copse,

and across a common by the Hermitage Stream.

We stopped here for snacks before Hannah went off to find some signs of spring.

She found pussy willow, catkins, leaf buds unfurling on lots of trees and periwinkles along the hedges.

We also saw quite a lot of wild rabbits in the fields. Hannah really loved watching them hopping about and chasing each other - but they were very hard to photograph!!
