Rock Up !

On Friday we joined our home schooling friends for another session at Rock Up in Whitely. Hannah is getting much stronger and braver since she has been bouldering each week, and consequently enjoyed Rock Up even more this time around.

As an added bonus she got to spend the whole session with a friend that she hadn't seen for ages, and absolutely adores, and went shopping for Shopkins afterwards - pretty much perfect then!!

What We've Been Doing.....

Apart from the London Pet show, the last week has been all about riding, climbing, exploring and hanging out with friends.

We have been exploring in our local area. These pictures are all taken in the park just across from our house. It's a lovely space and has a large fallen tree trunk that Hannah calls 'The Log', and loves to play on.

Hannah has been bouldering again. The class was held in a different climbing room this time, and was much more difficult, but nevertheless it was the session she has enjoyed the most so far!

We have been to Portsmouth to meet up with the home education group in a park there. Hannah really enjoyed catching up with some friends that she hadn't seen for a while.

Very spontaneous and completely unposed, well done girls !!

and there has been riding, lots of riding!

This is Tilly, Hannah's most favourite pony in the whole world - ever!

The London Pet Show

This weekend Hannah, my sister and I went up to London to the pet show at the Excel . It was really fun, and very interesting. We saw rabbit show jumping, dog agility, lots of different breeds of cats, dogs rabbits, lizards, birds, snakes.....................all sorts! The Pony Club were there as well, and Hannah was delighted to be able to take part in the Introduction To The Pony Club session, and earn a badge and certificate.

Home Education Group - Hydrosphere

This week at the home education group the children had the opportunity to learn about the water systems of the Earth. They carried out experiments with salt water density versus fresh water, and learnt about fast flowing streams, erosion and water storage using sand and water to replicate the conditions.

With the help of one of the mums at group who is a scientist, Hannah saw how salt water is heavier than fresh water. The fresh water (coloured green) floated on top of the salt water.

She also managed to make a dam from sticks and sand which held back the water in her "stream" !

She finished off the session with some artwork before heading out to the playground.

Drama Class and Riding Lessons

This week Hannah has had her monthly home education group drama lesson at the Kings Theatre, and she has had her weekly riding lesson. She loves the drama group, and this week she really enjoyed learning about building a character and how important that is when you are playing a role. They used examples from The Wizard Of Oz, and judging by how much Hannah chattered about it afterwards I'd guess it was a big success!
There are no parents in the drama sessions, so the only picture I have is this one in the foyer before class!

In her riding lessons Hannah is continuing to learn to canter. She is absolutely smitten with riding and completely adores her riding instructor (who is great and really gets the best from Hannah). This week she rode the gorgeous Coco ...............

..... who has a really cheeky personality, and doesn't miss a trick, but is too loveable not to love!!

It is Hannah's birthday soon (May 26), and she is hoping to do a pony morning at the stables with some friends to celebrate turning 11.
