The Tomten

One of Hannah's christmas presents was a book called The Tomten by Astrid Lindgren. She has been absolutely captivated by the story, which is about a little Swedish gnome who takes care of the animals on a farm when the humans are asleep.

One of her favourite pages shows the Tomten taking care of the chickens, and so obviously she wanted our chickens to have their very own Tomten!
Luckily, grandma found her a 'paint your own gnome' kit this week, and so today Hannah set about turning him into our garden Tomten.

She did her best to paint him to look like the illustration in the book.

She was so proud of him when she'd finished, and i'm sure the chickens will feel much safer with him watching over them tonight :-)
