This week Hannah has been out and about on her bike,

She has met The Gruffalo at the new library in Southsea,

And yesterday my sister Anita drove us to my step-sisters house at Leamington Spa to vist Grandad, Granny Heather and Hannah's cousins.
They played - ALOT!!!
And ate snacks!
and played some more!
And admired grandad's old motorbike and sidecar which he is re-building - isn't it cool!!!
Thank you to Auntie Anita for driving us yesterday - we had a lovely day :-)

Today we have been to the beach to make plaster of paris casts in sand and painted pebbles. Not many pictures i'm afraid as i was running the session, but here are a few i did take.

The plaster cast activity tutorials are here if you'd like to try them yourself - Fish

Southsea Castle

Today we've been to Southsea Castle with our Home-Schooling group.

In the education room Hannah drew a picture of the castle, played with an activity castle and checked out the dressing up clothes (although not so far as to actually put them on!)

She watched a documentary about the history of the castle,
and looked at all the exhibits in the keep.

She also posed for a picture in the stocks!!
After our visit she had a play time on the castle field, before finishing off with a shopping trip to Gunwharf Quays.

St Wilfrids Hospice Rainbow Day .

Last weekend we went to St Wilfrids Hospice Rainbow Day . Hannah's daddy is the catering manager at the hospice and is also in the St Wilfrids Ukelele Band who were playing a set at the event.
The Rainbow Day is a day of remembrance for the families who's relatives have spent their last days at the hospice, as well as a fundraising event to increase the hospice funds.

The main event is the releasing of the remembrance doves under the rainbow.

The sun came out just in time for the doves to fly up into a blue sky, while the band played 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' !

Hannah helped out with the music as she had appointed herself 'Daddy's Manager', and then became chief cup cake taster when she saw the amazing rainbow cup cakes !

There were games to try,

prizes to be won,
and lots of ukelele music!
Despite a really wet start to the day it turned out pretty well and Hannah had a lot of fun :-)

Home Educators Trip To Marwell Zoo

Yesterday we went on our annual home educators trip to Marwell Zoo. It was a really good day, warm and sunny, lots of friends and a lovely workshop that Hannah was really looking forward to.

Here's Hannah on the road train on our way to the top of zoo.
Looking for leopards

There he is.........
This year Hannah was finally brave enough to go into the bat house - she really liked it! She's always been too afraid of the dark before now to go inside.

Looking for tigers

Just before lunch it was time for Hannah's workshop, this year it was called 'Ourselves and Other Animals' and the children got to meet a corn snake, a stick insect and a rat.

After lunch and a play we visited the Australian section and saw the Wallabys and Cookaburras,

Visited the cold blooded area,
and the primates.
This mama has her baby on her back!
Then we went back via the leopards and this one was enjoying the sun.
And waited for the road train to take us back to the beginning!
It was a lovely day, and if you are a home educator in the Hampshire area i'd definitely recommend you come next year - it's a great day out with over 130 homeschoolers coming along this year :-)
