Canoe Lake and The Natural History Museum

Yesterday we met some friends at Canoe Lake in the morning for some play and a picnic. It was pretty cold and windy but that didn't stop them all getting soaked in the splash pool - all except Hannah that is, who managed to run around all the sprinklers!! She is on the right of this picture in her wetsuit!!
Later on Hannah and i went to look around the Japanese Gardens and she explored the rocks, bridges and climbed the banks to see the bluebells.

We finished our afternoon with a trip to The Natural History Museum as Hannah wanted to check out the Butterfly house.
We found lots of chrysalises waiting to hatch, and just below them in the leaves was.....................

................one little butterfly!!

Hannah was really interested in the information boards and has asked to visit once a week so that she can eventually see all the butterflies listed as they hatch.

In the education room there Hannah did some lovely wildlife and butterfly jigsaw puzzles, and then was able to use the microscope to examine a butterfly.

She really enjoyed the butterflies, and is really excited about seeing more varieties emerge over the summer......................i feel a project coming on!!

What a fabulous day out. The butterfly museum looks like a wonderful place to visit. I am a huge fan of all the hands on type stuff.
