Spring Harvest

Hannah and i have spent this afternoon at our community allotment with another home schooling family, we meet there twice a month for the children to learn about growing their own food, composting, recycling and taking care of the Earth.

Today Hannah weeded and harvested and tasted! She harvested spinach, carrots, strawberries and a few beans and peas to bring home. She also tasted them all before picking them, and tried her first nasturtium flowers and leaves (which she really liked despite their rather hot pepperiness)! She also picked bunches of sweet peas and cornflowers for the kitchen table, and Jenny, who runs the allotment gave her a tomato plant and a nasturtium plant to bring home. It was a really lovely afternoon.
