Planting

Today we were lucky enough to be given a small green house by my godmother so this afternoon Hannah set to work starting off some seeds to put in it. It was pouring with rain (hence there being no greenhouse picture!!) so we set up a little work area in the kitchen and she spent a happy couple of hours going through our seeds and our kitchen cupboards looking for anything which might substitute as a pot!

So far we have onions, green beans, french beans and cress, and this weekend we are going to the garden centre to choose more seeds. Spring is such an exciting time :-)

I've never posted here before but often check up on all your activities! I noted in one of your postings that you mentioned isolation, how do you get round that problem? I am HE Benedict due to the problems associated with type one diabetes, our nearest home ed groups are over an hour way north/south. We do not have family or friends near by.

Hello, i find it can be isolating in that there is rarely anyone doing the same things as us iykwim - there is such a vast range of homeschooling styles that when i come up against a problem or worry, there isn't often anyone similar to turn to. Hannah does have a lot of friends - i've found that side of things harder than she has, but i started a local group last year and luckily met some other homeschoolers on very much more my wave length which has helped enormously! I would definitely suggests looking into starting your own group, our library offered me a free space to use and i started a yahoo group, put a few messages out and we had a group :-)

Thanks for your words of encouragement! Will look into placing an ad in the library/free chidrens newsletter.
Your pictures from today look great, lucky you having the sunshine... we've had typical rain up north!!!
