Thursday Fun

Another lovely day today and this time it was a trip to the beach with some homeschooling friends!

We met in a playground on the common and had a play there (well Hannah did - i just recovered from the bike ride there!!), before heading across to the beach. Hannah was very happy to be on the beach she loves it!

She even braved the chilly sea for a little while for a spot of paddling,

before tucking into her picnic lunch.

The next hour or two were taken up with shell seeking! The children collected a big tub full, and put plenty in the bike trailer too. It's amazing how they never tire of shells, we have literally hundreds at home but every new shell is just as exciting and special as the very first one.........i love that :-)

After the beach we all parted company and i cycled Hannah along to the other end of the seafront for an ice-cream break, before visiting another playground on the way home. Hannah was feeling very proud on the way home as she was finally brave enough to go head first down the slide, she's been wanting to do that for ages!!
And finally, a snapshot of the bike and trailer especially for Woolywanderer!! Sorry it's not an action shot but it's very difficult to photograph yourself cycling along lol! I'll get Hannah's daddy to run along next to us with a camera one day ;-)

Thanks for that!! AS always your postings and Hannah's happy face make me smile. Looks like I'm going to have to wobble wobble on my bike and then pluck up the courage to tow Pip around and about!

Praise God we've made contact with another local HE family, she has a boy the same age as Benedict. We met over a year ago and swapped and lost numbers, argh! Through a mutual friend we've made contact, hooray!

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Hugs San and all xx

Hi Susie, I came across your blog when I was researching home schooling. I have an only daughter Asha, who is 10, and I'm getting quite dissillusioned with the restrictive framework of mainstream education. I just wondered when you started home schooling Hannah, (who looks very sweet btw!) and if you plan to continue all the way through her education, take exams etc? I was concerned about the social aspect of it, but it seems if you join a group they still have the company of other children. Hope you don't mind me asking about it, it just seems to work for you, and I don't know anyone who does it! Emma

Hi Emma, glad you found the blog helpful :-) Hannah has never been to school, and hopefully never will! I'm planing on homeschooling all the way through, with her sitting any exams she would like to take as an outside candidate at the local private school.
When we started we didn't have a homeschooling group in Portsmouth, and i too was worried about the social side of things - so i started the group and lots of people eventually joined and now it's all going pretty well.

I'm really happy to talk more if you'd like, just email me (septemberchild@btinternet.com)
Much love Susie x

Oh I just loved this post - you sound so "British"!!! My dad grew up in England and his dad used to talk this way (I'm sure you don't know what I mean) - Anyway - always love checking in on you and Hannah!
